Stack migration and project transfer

The project works, but developing it further is expensive: the technology is outdated, the contractor has vanished and half of the knowledge of how everything works was never written down. Migration is not “rewrite everything from scratch” but a careful move during which the business does not stop.

What the work includes

  • An audit of what exists: technologies, versions, dependencies, what is no longer supported and what that puts at risk
  • A migration plan in stages, so that the project does not stop for a month because of the move
  • Data transfer with verification: do the counts match, are the relations intact, what to do with old formats
  • Keeping page addresses and setting up redirects — otherwise the move costs you your accumulated search positions
  • Getting out of site builders and closed platforms, including when no proper export is provided
  • Project handover: access, documentation and the repository stay with you, not with the contractor

How the work goes

  1. 1 Audit An audit of what exists: technologies and versions, dependencies, where the data lives, what is no longer supported and what that means over the next year
  2. 2 Plan A staged plan: what moves first, what runs in parallel and at what point you can roll back if something goes wrong
  3. 3 Move The move, with verification: do the record counts match, are the relations intact, what to do with old formats and the junk accumulated over the years
  4. 4 Handover Handover: access, the repository, documentation and clear deployment instructions — all with you, not with the contractor

From where and to where we move

The direction is always the same: from closed and unsupported to something that can be developed further.

Out of website builders — including cases where the platform offers no proper export

Off outdated versions of CMSs and frameworks that no longer receive security updates

Away from a previous contractor: we work through someone else’s code, recover access and document what was never written down

From spreadsheets and scattered files into a proper database, when your records have outgrown Excel

From a monolith that is scary to touch to a structure where changing one part does not bring down the rest
